The course provides an overview of basic geological concepts, as well as the geological history of Western Canada in relation to the oil, gas, and mining industries. Surficial geological and topographical features are examined on field trips and on maps. Basic field techniques used during geological exploration and monitoring work are discussed and demonstrated.
