Basic ecological principals pertaining to northern ecosystems are introduced. Population and community ecology, especially as they pertain to plant ecology, are discussed. Emphasis is placed on major community types ranging from marshes to forest communities. The field component allows the students to gain practical experience in data collection, evaluation, compilation, and presentation.
